Man filmed himself being run over by train! (Video)

A stunt in which a man filmed himself being run over by a high speed train has been branded as "stupidity in the extreme".

The unknown man is seen lying lengthways between the tracks while an approaching train terrifyingly thunders over the top of him.

The 56-second clip was uploaded on YouTube where it attracted 270,000 hits before being removed, reports the Daily Mirror.

The man is seen looking up nervously at the camera as what looks like a freight train can be heard approaching in the background.

After it spends 20 seconds thundering past, mere inches from his head, the man casually checks himself for injuries, jumps up, collects his camera and runs off as the train screeches to a halt out of shot.

It is unclear whether the video was shot in the UK but Network Rail have branded the stunt as "stupidity in the extreme".

A Network Rail spokesman said: "It doesn't bear thinking about what would have happened if the turbulence created had swept the man's coat up into the underside of the train.

"Not only that but think about the effect on the train driver who believes he has just killed somebody.

"Nobody who has any regard for their own safety or the feelings of others should attempt a stunt like this."

  • Woman's phone eaten by crocodile

Zookeepers in Ukraine didn't believe a visitor who claimed a crocodile ate her mobile phone - until they heard its stomach ringing.

Rimma Golovko, a new mum in her 20s, admits being at fault for the accident at an aquarium in the eastern city of Dnipropetrovsk.

She stretched out her arm to snap a photo of Gena opening his mouth and dropped her Nokia phone into the water, reports the Daily Mail.

"This should have been a very dramatic shot, but things didn't work out," said Ms Golovko.

She told keepers what had happened but they did not believe her until they heard the phone ring.

"The sound was coming from inside our Gena's stomach and we understood she wasn't lying," said aquarium employee Alexandra.

Ms Golovko is resigned to losing her phone, but still wants its SIM card back since that has her precious photos and contacts.

The mishap has caused bigger problems for the crocodile, which has not eaten or had a bowel movement in four weeks and appears listless.

"The animal is not feeling well," said Alexandra. "His behaviour has changed, he moves very little and swims much less than he used to."

Dnipropetrovsk chief veterinarian Oleksandr Shushlenko said the crocodile will be taken for an X-ray next week if he continues to refuse food.

  • Dog loves to walk on two legs

A poodle has become something of a local celebrity in China - because he prefers to walk upright on his hind legs.

One-year-old Treasure can walk for more than half-a-mile on two legs - and often attracts crowds of fans.

Owner Dou Xianhui, 50, of Jilin City, started to train Treasure to walk on his hind legs not long after he was born - and says he took to it straight away.

"I only trained him for around a week, and then he started to walk on two legs by himself and can't seem to stop," he said.

"Since learning to walk on two legs, Treasure hardly ever walks with all four legs on the ground.

"His walking speed is about the same as mine, and he can walk like that for 20 to 30 minutes non-stop.

"Many times when I take him for his daily walk along the Songhua River, there are fans waiting, wanting to take pictures and say hello to him."

  • Man takes sex dolls on holiday

A Canadian man has left his wife at home to travel the world with six sex dolls for company.

Dave Hockey, 57, insists his wife "doesn't mind" about his £16,000 bizarre trip of a lifetime, reports The Sun.

So far, he has travelled with his fake girlfriends across Britain and America, taking in Stonehenge, the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls.

The dad-of-two said: "My wife understands it is a hobby. She isn't threatened by the dolls she knows I'm not going to run off with an 80lb piece of silicone shaped like a woman."

Mr Hockey flew 'Realdoll' Bianca and 'Teddy Babe Deluxe' Carley to Britain for trips to Oxford, Wiltshire and Abergavenny, Wales.

He also filmed a seven-week road trip across America, from his home in Nova Scotia to San Diego, meeting other doll owners for his own documentary.

And during the holiday, Bianca, a £2,000 silicone doll who featured in the film Lars and the Real Doll, was taken sky-diving, horseback riding and for on the back of a Harley Davidson motorbike.

Mr Hockey has even bought £1,270 worth of glamorous outfits for the dolls, 18 wigs at £38 each plus several pairs of stilettos.

He added: "I purchased my first dolls in November 2006. They looked cute. I think the dolls are pretty - any man is lying if he says they aren't."

His collection includes life-size dolls Jessica, Gabrielle, Jocelyn, Lilly, Ruby, Jenny, and Bianca, and the slightly smaller Teddy Babes Carley, Samantha, Diana, Miyuki, Jessica, Janelle and Nita.

  • George Lucas 'says world will end in 2012'

Star Wars producer George Lucas is said to believe the world will end in 2012.

Lucas apparently made his claims during a meeting with Steven Spielberg and comedian and actor Seth Rogen to discuss a film project.

Rogen told the Toronto Sun that Lucas's seemingly earnest belief in an impending apocalypse left him speechless.

He said: "George Lucas sits down and seriously proceeds to talk for around 25 minutes about how he thinks the world is going to end in the year 2012, like, for real. He thinks it.

"He's going on about the tectonic plates and all the time Spielberg is, like, rolling his eyes, like: "My nerdy friend won't shut up, I'm sorry..."

"I first thought he was joking... and then I totally realised he was serious and then I started thinking: "If you're George Lucas and you actually think the world is going to end in a year, there's no way you haven't built a spaceship for yourself... So I asked him: "Can I have a seat on it?"

"He claimed he didn't have a spaceship, but there's no doubt there's a Millennium Falcon in a garage somewhere with a pilot just waiting to go... It's going to be him and Steven Spielberg and I'll be blown up like the rest of us."

The belief that the world will end in 2012 stems from the belief that the Mayan 'Long Count' calendar, which began in 3114BC, is believed to end on the winter solstice of December 21, 2012.

  • 'Crop circle' in Indonesian rice paddy

Indonesia – Thousands of curious onlookers are flocking to central Indonesia to look at a "crop circle" in a rice field following rumors it was formed by a UFO.

Though clearly sculptured by humans — it looks like an intricately designed flower — the 70-yard-wide (70-meter-wide) circle has drawn so much attention that police have blocked off the area with yellow tape.

Villagers have started charging entrance fees.

Guntur Purwanto, chief of Jogotirto village in Sleman district, said the circle appeared in the middle of the green rice paddies over the weekend.

Among those turning out Tuesday and offering opinions were officials from Indonesia's space agency, well-respected astronomers and nuclear agency officials. All agree it was not left by an UFO.

  • Jenson Button's dad forgot Ferrari

Jenson Button's dad sparked a police hunt in Italy when he reported his Ferrari stolen - only to realise he'd parked it in another town.

John Button told police that he feared his Ferrari 550 had been taken from where he parked it in Alassio, on the Italian Riviera.

For more than 48 hours, police scoured the town for the £50,000 supercar, reports the Daily Telegraph.

But then it dawned on Mr Button, 65, that he had confused Alassio with neighbouring Laigueglia, which has an almost identical layout and lies less than a mile along the coast.

He retraced his steps and sure enough, the Ferrari was parked just where he left it.

"It's all a bit embarrassing, but the roads that lead into Alassio and Laigueglia are almost identical, even the railings look the same, and they both have a fork in them," said Mr Button.

"The police found it quite amusing and once things had been resolved said 'Give our regards to Jenson'.

"Funnily enough it was not the loss of the car that upset me, it was the thought that I might have lost a camera with some amazing shots from a trip to Kyoto. I know I'm going to get a bit of ribbing over the whole thing."

Meanwhile, footballer Jermaine Pennant was contacted this week after his Porsche was found to have been left in a Spanish railway station car park for five months.

Pennant, who plays for Stoke City, reportedly said he had forgotten about the vehicle which he had parked at the station during his time with Real Zaragoza.

  • Boy scares off wolves with Megadeth

A 13-year-old Norwegian boy scared off a pack of wolves - by playing them heavy metal group Megadeth on his mobile phone.

Walter Acre was walking home from school in Rakkestad when he found himself encircled by the four snarling beasts, reports website Zvuki.ru.

Just as they seemed set to attack, the petrified youngster pulled out his phone and cranked out a song by Megadeth.

Walter had previously been told not to run away from wolves but to face them and attempt to scare them away.

And sure enough, the tactic worked as the sound of heavy metal music sent the animals scattering in confusion.

The website reports that Walter made it home safely, using one final blast of music to see off a stray wolf that was prowling close to his front porch.

  • Sven Koppler Admits To Mailing Hundreds Of Tarantulas Illegally From Germany To U.S.

LOS ANGELES - Court documents say a man has agreed to plead guilty to a smuggling charge for bringing hundreds of tarantulas into the United States by mail.

The documents filed Tuesday say 37-year-old Sven Koppler of Wachtberg, Germany, signed a plea agreement over the weekend involving one count of smuggling goods into the U.S.

He could face up to 20 years in federal prison when he is sentenced April 11.

Federal prosecutors say Koppler mailed more than 240 live tarantulas from Germany to Los Angeles last year. Fish and Wildlife Service agents intercepted the packages then posed as customers and ordered dozens more spiders, including a protected Mexican species.

Authorities say Koppler made $300,000 by selling spiders to people in dozens of countries.

  • Mammoth Could Be Brought Back To Life In 4 Years

Researchers will attempt resurrecting the mammoth, a species believed extinct for over 5,000 years, after finally obtaining tissue last summer from a carcass preserved in a Russian mammoth research laboratory.

The team will be led by Professor Akira Iritani, professor emeritus at Kyoto University, notes Physorg.com.

Though the study began in 1997, the researchers were unable to determine how to safely extract DNA until a 2008 experiment by Dr. Teruhiko Wakayama, during which he cloned a mouse that had been in deep freeze for 16 years.

They plan on taking nuclei from the mammoth cells and inserting them into an elephant's egg cells from which the nuclei have been removed. This will create an embryo that contains the mammoth's genes. The embryo will then be inserted into the elephant's womb, and the animal will, hopefully, give birth to a mammoth. According to The Daily Tech, Iritani said:

"The success rate in the cloning of cattle was poor until recently, but now stands at about 30 percent. I think we have a reasonable chance of success and a healthy mammoth could be born in four or five years."

According to PCmag.com, the team will need a working sample of tissue of at least three square centimeters. The team has had trouble in the past because they had only been able to obtain tissue samples from mammoths found in Siberia, which were rendered unusable because of the frost.

The effort has now become a joint one, bringing together the United States (two African elephant researchers), Russia (the head of the Russian mammoth research lab), and Japan (Professors Minoru Miyashita and Akira Iritani).

If everything goes as planned, a mammoth will be born in 4 to 6 years. It will take so long because it will most likely be at least two years before they can impregnate an elephant, and then there will be a 600 day gestation period.

Iritani realizes the potential ramifications of this procedure. He notes, "If a cloned embryo can be created, we need to discuss, before transplanting it into the womb, how to breed it and whether to display it to the public. After the mammoth is born, we'll examine its ecology and genes to study why the species became extinct and other factors."

Mammoths were between 10 to 12 feet tall and weighed from 6 to 8 tons. They are estimated to have gone extinct more than 5,000 years ago, probably due to a combination of the change in climate, hunting, and disease, and remain a symbol of the last ice age.

  • Cute Dog : Smiley Riley does it again

A dog that wowed the world with his distinctly human-like smile a year ago has done it again on his second birthday.

Pictures of Riley the smiling dog at his first birthday party appeared on websites and in newspapers all over the world last year.

Owner Maureen Ravelo, 23, of San Jose, couldn't resist throwing another party for her pet this year - and again recording that famous smile.

Last year, Riley's smile appeared to be oozing satisfaction while this year he seems to be throwing his head back and laughing.

Ms Ravelo said: "Riley always makes faces like this, and that's the best part about him. He gives you a new facial expression every time that you forget he's a dog.

"Ever since he came into my family's life, we've always thought he had oddly human-like features, which have been captured on camera on more than one occasion."

In the picture Riley is about to tuck into a cupcake sprinkled with treats, surrounded by balloons and party decorations.

But one noticeable difference was the absence of the jaunty party hat he wore last year.

Ms Ravelo added: "Yep, no hat. He said big boys don't wear birthday hats. That or he bit me when I tried to put it on him.

"He's a mix of a bichon frise and poodle. His playfulness comes from the bichon part and the attitude from the poodle."

  • Giant hole opens up behind house

A Chinese family had to leave their home after a giant sinkhole suddenly opened up in their backyard overnight.

The hole is nearly 70ft wide and nobody has so far even been able to measure how deep it is.

Zhang Fengrong, 58, of Leshan, Sichuan province, said he suddenly heard a roaring sound at 2am.

He stepped outside and was amazed to see the giant hole opening up, and getting closer and closer to his house.

At first, it was only 10ft wide, but witjhin 24 hours it had reached it's current size - and the family say they will lose their home if it gets any bigger.

Zhang said he had tried to measure the depth of the pit by letting down first a 130ft rope, then a 200ft rope, but they still hadn't reached the bottom.

"We can hear the sound of water when we stand on the edge of the hole, but when we throw down stones we don't hear them land or splash," he added.

The family are temporarily living in two rooms offered by the village office, and neighbours have helped them move most of their belongings from the house.

  • Store teaches police politeness

Police officers are being sent to a John Lewis department store - to learn how to be polite to the public.

The move, in Manchester, comes after a survey revealed some officers answered mobiles while talking to people or had inappropriate ring tones.

Superintendent Nadeem Butt from Greater Manchester Police came up with the idea to ask the store for help because its staff are so polite.

He said: "We all know they are fantastic at customer service - anyone who has shopped there will tell you that. I rang them up and said: 'Can we come down and have a look at what you do?'

"The main thing is that John Lewis treats customer service as a skill. You could be the best salesperson in the country but you still have to have regular training."

Officers from Supt Butt's force will receive their politeness training from the John Lewis store in Cheadle, Greater Manchester.

They will be trained to be more professional and considerate when dealing with victims of crime and witnesses.

They are being taught to spend more time listening to people, to keep victims updated on the progress of inquiries and to tell people exactly what happens after a crime is reported.

  • Mobiles targeted in knives campaign

New technology is to be used in the fight against knife crime, with messages to be sent directly to youngsters' mobile phones.

The initiative, announced by Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill, is the latest phase of the No Knives, Better Lives campaign. It has already led to a 35% reduction in knife-carrying in the Inverclyde area.

Inverclyde will also be the first part of Scotland where bluetooth technology will be used to transmit special messages to young people's mobile phones.

The transmitter can be targeted at areas where youngsters gather and will send the message 'Choose Life Not a Knife' to phones that have bluetooth switched on. If successful, the scheme, which does not require any new funding, could be rolled out to other parts of Scotland.

Mr MacAskill said it could potentially reach a "huge audience".

He said: "We've got to continue to look at new ways of getting the message across to young people about the dangers of carrying a knife and this new mobile phone initiative gives us the opportunity to do just that.

"You'd be hard pushed to find a young person who doesn't own a mobile phone and that is a huge audience we can potentially reach through these tactics."

Mr MacAskill said previous efforts to tackle the problem of knife crime had been successful, stating: "The combination of tough enforcement on the streets, backed by education through the No Knives, Better Lives campaign, is having a real impact on knife crime and the figures we are seeing show a downward trajectory across the country."

Inverclyde area commander, Chief Inspector Graeme MacDairmid, said the No Knives, Better Lives campaign had played an integral part in the fight against knife crime.

He added: "Running in tandem with this successful education programme, my officers are focusing on targeting both known knife carriers and hot spot areas where knife crime is prevalent. Never before have police officers in Inverclyde carried out so many searches for weapons, yet at the same time found so few."

  • Toilet restaurant flushed with success

Diners in China are overcoming their reservations by flocking to a new toilet-themed restaurant where business is booming.

Customers at the Modern Toilet restaurant, in Kunming, Yunnan province, eat on seats converted from toilets.

Urinals hang on the walls as decorations and signature dishes include 'excrement ice cream', 'toilet bowl hot pot' and 'fried poo sticks'.

Owner Xu Liang says the restaurant has proved more popular than expected with students, in particular, keen to try the experience.

"We had a survey before opening, and 20% of people wanted to try it, 60% weren't sure, while only 20% found the idea unacceptable," he said.

"Sometimes unusual combinations can work. A toilet and a restaurant are complete opposites but combined together they make for a unique experience."

Regular customer Yang Siwen, a university student, has eaten at the restaurant three times since it opened two weeks ago.

"I originally went in because I thought it was a toilet but then discovered it was a restaurant and decided to give it a try," she said.

  • Boy, 4, survives fall down 30ft well

A four-year-old boy who went missing for two days in China has been found safe - at the bottom of a 30ft well.

Deng Rui's grandparents left him playing at home one morning after he missed the bus to kindergarten.

But there was no sign of the little boy when they returned to their home, in Tengchong, Yunnan province, for lunch.

Police officers performed a city-wide search but found nothing - until a family friend suggested searching a deserted factory nearby.

"We really didn't have much hope, but went there to have a look," said Deng Zaixi, the boy's father.

In the factory yard, the family found a number of dry wells and began calling down each one in turn. Finally, they heard the boy's weak cries for help.

The family called out firefighters who took three hours to rescue the boy.

Rui said he had gone to the factory to play but had tripped and fallen down the well: "It was so painful and then I cried for help but nobody came," he said.

Amazingly, the boy survived his ordeal with nothing worse than a few scratches on his face. The soft walls and bottom of the well had cushioned his fall.

When asked how he had coped at the bottom of the well in the dark for two days, Rui said he had not been afraid as there was a cat down there with him.

The cat, thought to have fallen down the well earlier, was also rescued but ran away as soon as it reached the surface.

An Indonesian artist has painted a series of bizarre images of Adolf Hitler as the Virgin Mary to punish him for his sins.

Ronald Manullang portrayed the fuhrer as a semi-naked pregnant woman, and also cradling the baby Jesus on his lap.

Others show him with a Jewish death camp tattoo on his wrist and as a women exposing her breasts.

"This is a terrifying, powerful man who has to breastfeed, sing lullabies and caress a baby who he really hates. This is a fitting punishment for his past sins," said Manullang of his series of paintings, entitled Final Judgement

"Hitler committed a lot of sins. He killed many people but he was never punished. The main point of my paintings are to punish him."

  • Armoured truck smashes into home

A Dorset family had a lucky escape when a 28-tonne armoured truck smashed into their home.

The runaway Ranger vehicle was being taken off a low-loader when a malfunction caused it to roll backwards, reports the Daily Telegraph.

The vehicle, built to withstand bomb attacks, ploughed through a wire fence, down an embankment and across a public footpath.

It then careered through the garden fence of the Portland home of Clive and Sharon Nethercott, tore across 15ft of their back lawn and demolished their double garage.

Their two cars - Ford Freda mini-van and a Fiat Panda - a camper van, two boats and a motorbike were destroyed and the vehicle narrowly missed their house by just 18 inches.

The couple, who were in their kitchen at the time, feared their 12-year-old son Adam was buried under the rubble as there was no sign of him afterwards. They later found him playing outside.

Mr Nethercott, also father to Celia, 20, and James, 14, said: "We rushed out the front and there was a loud noise and everything was hazy as there was dust in the air.

"We didn't really know what had happened and I looked across at the double garage and the first thing I thought was that the roof had caved in.

"Then we saw this vehicle in the garden and my first thought was it was a plane because it sounded like a helicopter or a plane had crashed."

A spokesman for Weymouth-based Universal Engineering, which designed and built the Ranger, declined to comment as a police investigation had been launched.

  • Britain's fastest police car

Motorway officers have unveiled their latest weapon against speeding drivers - Britain's fastest police car.

Lotus have handed over one of their latest 162mph Evora sportscars to the West Midlands traffic unit that patrols some of the country's busiest motorways.

Complete with its police livery, badges and flashing lights the £55,000 supercar will be used on major routes including M5, M6, M42 and the M6 toll road.

PC Angus Nairn said: "It's a very quick car and we hope it will prove an effective deterrent to anyone thinking of speeding or trying to outrun us.

"It has incredible performance yet still does around 30mpg. It will attract a lot of attention on the motorways but that is the whole idea - it will remind drivers of the need to keep to ther speed limits at all times".

Lotus have given the Evora - which will be officially unveiled today at an international motorsport show in Birmingham - to the police for a month for evaluation.

Powered by a 280bhp 3.5 litre V6 engine, the car can hit 60mph in less than five seconds.

Lotus have previously offered the Sussex force an Exige and loaned out Esprits and Elise models to police but the Evora puts Britain's police near the top of the European law-enforcement top performance league table.

The Italians claim first place with a specially-adapted 192mph Lamborghini Gallardo. Unfortunately the car, seized from a convicted drug dealer, was later written off when a careless motorist pulled out in front of it.

  • 2 Million Fish Found Dead In Maryland

Authorities in Maryland are investigating the deaths of about 2 million fish in Chesapeake Bay.

“Natural causes appear to be the reason,” the Maryland Department of the Environment said in a news release. “Cold water stress exacerbated by a large population of the affected species (juvenile spot fish) appears to be the cause of the kill.”

The investigation comes days after the deaths of an estimated 100,000 fish in northwest Arkansas. Authorities suspect disease was to blame there, a state spokesman said.

“The affected fish are almost exclusively juvenile spot fish, 3 to 6 inches in length,” the Maryland department said. A recent survey “showed a very strong population of spot in the bay this year. An increased juvenile population and limited deep water habitat would likely compound the effects of cold water stress.”
